Student Protection Arrangements
Cavell College is committed to protecting students’ interests and supporting the continuation of their studies where circumstances arise that may significantly affect the delivery of a programme, campus, or other aspects of the student experience.
The College maintains appropriate arrangements to identify and manage risks that could affect students’ ability to continue and complete their studies. Where a significant change or disruption occurs, the College will take reasonable and proportionate steps to minimise the impact on affected students.
Continuation of Study
Where a programme is discontinued, substantially changed, relocated, or otherwise affected, the College will communicate with affected students as soon as reasonably practicable. Where possible, the College will seek to provide suitable arrangements that enable students to continue and complete their studies.
Depending on the circumstances, arrangements may include:
- Continuing delivery of the programme for existing students where reasonably practicable.
- Providing alternative arrangements for teaching, learning, assessment, or academic support.
- Offering suitable transfer or progression arrangements where available.
- Working with relevant awarding or validating bodies where applicable.
- Providing information and guidance to students about available options and any consequences of changes.
Communication with Students
The College will provide clear and timely information to affected students when a significant event may impact their studies. Communications will explain the nature of the change, its expected impact, the arrangements being considered or implemented, and any actions students may need to take.
The College will make reasonable efforts to ensure that communications are accessible and that students have an appropriate opportunity to seek clarification and support.
Financial Protection and Refunds
Where a significant change results in students being unable to receive the education or services for which they have paid, the College will consider applicable contractual, regulatory, and legal requirements when determining appropriate refunds, fee adjustments, compensation, or other remedies.
Any financial arrangements will be communicated clearly to affected students.
Support for Affected Students
Students affected by significant changes to their programme or study arrangements will be directed to appropriate academic and student support services. The College will consider the individual circumstances and needs of affected students when implementing protection measures.
Additional consideration may be given to students who may be particularly affected by changes, including students with additional support needs or other circumstances that may make continuation of study more difficult.
Review of Arrangements
Cavell College will review its student protection arrangements periodically and following significant changes to its programmes, operations, partnerships, or regulatory requirements. The College will seek to ensure that its arrangements remain appropriate, practical, and effective in protecting students’ interests.
These arrangements should be read alongside the College’s relevant student policies, terms and conditions, complaints procedures, refund and compensation arrangements, and other applicable policies.
Where applicable, Cavell College will also take account of the requirements and guidance of relevant regulatory, awarding, and validating bodies.
